Okay, so if you’re here, you probably are on the search for J-pop music. I’m sorry that I don’t have any download links available here for you, but that’s against WordPress Policy. We want this blog to stay open so you know what’s new and what music is worth a listen, right? Well, let’s hope so.
Even if I can’t give you the downloads, I can supply various sites for you to choose from in order to obtain your music. I’ll review the sites here for you so that you can determine where you should go. Best of luck getting your J-pop fix! None of these websites are linked; if you want to get to them, you’ll have to figure out how to get there yourself. I certainly hope you can do so…
I repeat; no illegal material is made available through this site. Now, let’s review the websites!
This website requires membership in order to view it. If you haven’t applied for it, I suggest you do. Considering the ephemeral nature of most Jpop websites, this site is a healthy change from all of that; they’ve been around for a while, they post their music quickly, and they post it romanized with cover art. It’s one of the best sites I’ve seen and I would say that it’s a must join. Right now, it’s open to apply to as music_and_more, a J-pop blog based on wordpress. It requires a password and username, but that’s it. It recently switched to wordpress, so it’s currently hard to find without posting a direct link.
JPMP3 (Kyo Music City)
Ah… JPMP3 is a site that is not done in English. As such, it’s tougher to join and tougher to find your way around. Thankfully, there are many clear labels, and more often than not, releases find their way here extremely quickly. Add in a great PV selection that is easily updated, and this forum is another good bet for releases listed here. The only downsides are the language barrier, and you guessed it, required membership.

J-pop CN is the website with the largest selection of music. If you couldn’t find music I talked about here anywhere else, I’d be willing to bet they have got it here. This great selection of J-pop, along with free access, make J-pop CN an easy choice for acquiring J-pop. However, it is not perfect; many singles and albums come without cover art, and many lack Kanji and do not download as well as I’d like. There is also little diversity in links used. Still… it’s a great option to have as a last resort after sifting through other sites first (or if you’re particularly anxious to get so and so’s new single).
…For now, this selection should hold everyone over for getting their J-pop supplies. I might also suggest YesAsia, CDJapan, and HMV.JP as options for purchasing singles and albums you’ve heard about here. Best of luck in completing your very own “Hip-pop” collection!
